There are two places on earth...

As far as we’re concerned there are two places on earth: Alaska and the Kamchatka Peninsula. Located south of Siberia in the Russian Far East, it is one of the most spectacular regions in Russia, bordered by the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean and on the west coast, by the Okhotsk Sea. Four mountain ridges—Sredinny, Valaginsky,Rainbow Trout Ganalsky and Kumroch—stretch from the north to the south giving the Peninsula the shape of a giant fish. There are more than 160 volcanoes, including 29 active ones, resulting in breathtaking peaks and calderas, stone sculpture areas, lakes in craters, geysers and mineral springs.

Since 1998, when we first started fishing these waters, the vast land and limitless resources continue to amaze our clients and even our guides who have fished all over the world. Thousands of virgin rivers offer some of the best trout and salmon fishing in the world and the stark beauty and untouched, isolated land add to the enormity of the experience.

By MI-8 helicopter, we travel from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky into the wilderness on the southern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula, before launching rafts from the banks of some of our favorite waterways. Most of our rivers flow into the Okhotsk Sea, are about 100 miles long, and flow through breathtaking, wild backcountry where the river boils with salmon and there are natural thermal baths kamchatka Rainbowsalong the banks. It is also common for us to see 30-40 brown bears on a trip.  Kamchatka is known for some of the largest bear populations in the world. Fox, lynx, wolverine, sable, mink, beaver and wolves are also spotted frequently, as well as Steller’s sea eagles, one of the largest birds in the world, with a wing span of eight feet.

Accommodations
At each stop on the itinerary, comfortable wilderness camping and dining is handled by Alaska Fishing Expeditions guides and a local cook. Large four-man, weatherproof tents accommodate two people and single tents are also available. The kitchen tent—or what we call the k-tent—is where hardy, homemade, family style meals are freshly prepared daily and, with advance notice, we will try to accommodate any special dietary considerations. Snacks and hot and cold beverages are also provided throughout the trip.

Weather
Part of the lush beauty on the Peninsula comes from heavy precipitation. Summers can be cooler, though the weather changes quickly, dramatically, and frequently and you need to be prepared for temperatures that range from 40 to 70 degrees F, with the possibility of evening temperatures dipping into the low 40's. Make sure and bring hardy waders and warm clothes for layering. Please refer to our suggested packing list and our staff can also make recommendations.
